Clinical trials are at the core of evidence-based medicine. However, for many important clinical questions, there can be a lack of robust and reliable evidence from rigorously designed and conducted clinical trials. In mental health, the number of regulatory drug approvals has consistently lagged behind other areas of medicine, effects of established therapies may vary, and comparative effectiveness data for available treatments are scarce. Thus, there is an urgent need for more efficient, faster and more collaborative ways of generating evidence.
In this symposium, we will hear from international speakers from mental health and other fields of medicine, including experts by experience, clinicians, trialists, regulatory agencies, publishers, and research funders. We will jointly discuss how we can transform our evidence base for the benefit of those accessing mental health care and those administering it.
