DZG Whitepaper Paves the Way for the Future of Data Usage – with DZPG Participation

Health research data is key to effective prevention, personalized therapy, and efficient healthcare. Recent legislative initiatives, including the German Health Data Use Act (GNDG) and the European Health Data Space Regulation (EHDS), are establishing new frameworks to significantly improve access to health data, which has traditionally been challenging.

Maximizing the benefits of data for research requires efficient collaboration within the scientific community. The eight German Centers for Health Research (DZG) have now published a whitepaper titled "Health Research Data: Unlocking Together, Researching More Efficiently." It outlines how the DZG, in collaboration with the Network of University Medicine (NUM), can develop a shared data space in Germany and identifies key requirements. The whitepaper also highlights how these advancements can be structured—leveraging existing infrastructures, strong networks, and unified standards.

The goal of connecting research data is clear: to translate new scientific findings into practical applications and deliver them as efficiently as possible to those who stand to benefit.
