Endowed with €30,000, the Christina Barz Foundation Award honours early-career researchers who are making significant contributions to the study of eating disorders, with a particular emphasis on early detection and the progression of bulimic and anorectic behaviours.
Pioneering research project: digital support for binge eating
Dr. Schag was recognised for her groundbreaking project, “Click to cope: Piloting a digital emotion regulation app for patients with binge eating in a multicentre randomised controlled trial.” At the DZPG Tübingen partner site, she investigates how emotions and impulsivity interact during binge-eating episodes. At the heart of the study is a digital app designed to help patients regulate their emotions effectively.
The award funding will support this innovative research, which has the potential to deliver valuable insights for improving the treatment of binge-eating disorders.
